The three ways to set up a new heavendata account: Empty setup, Standard setup with the product type General products and the ready-made product types, or Managed setup by our team.
After sign-up, heavendata asks how to set up your account and offers three options: Empty setup, Standard setup and Managed setup. Standard setup gives you one product type that fits any kind of product and opens the list of ready-made product types, so you can add or import products right away.

Empty setup
Section titled “Empty setup”With Empty setup you build the catalog structure yourself: first the attributes and sections under Settings → Attributes & sections, then the product types under Settings → Product types. Every product has a product type, so you need at least one before you can add a product. See First steps for the order to do it in.
Standard setup
Section titled “Standard setup”Standard setup creates one product type, General products, and opens the New product type page with the note Your account starts with one product type, “General products”. Create a product type for each kind of product you sell, with the attributes that kind needs.
General products fits any kind of product. It brings the 13 attributes every ready-made product type brings plus Target gender, with the roles an import needs already assigned, and one variant configuration, No product variants.
From the New product type page, create a ready-made product type for each kind of product you sell: Tops & shirts, Sofas & armchairs, Smartphones and so on. Each one reuses the attributes General products already created and adds the ones its kind of product needs. The full list is on Ready-made product types; the steps are on Product types.
The names are created in English or German, depending on your account’s languages (which language). Standard setup is refused with Your catalog already has data. Delete product types and attributes first. when the account already has an attribute or a section.
Accounts set up before 21 October 2026 got the product type Simple product instead. Its attributes are reused by the ready-made product types in the same way.
Managed setup
Section titled “Managed setup”With Managed setup you send us an email, we contact you, and we set the account up for you. That typically takes about 24 hours.
